The JBL JRX218S is a passive, compact 18‑inch subwoofer in JBL’s JRX200 series.
“Passive” means it doesn’t have its own built‑in amplifier — it must be driven by an external power amplifier.
This subwoofer is designed to extend the low-frequency performance of a PA system or live sound setup — adding depth and power to bass, especially for music with heavy low end.
Although it’s a large subwoofer (18″), JBL markets it as “compact” in the sense that it attempts to balance size vs performance: for applications where you need significant low-bass but still want something more manageable than large touring subs.
