Allen & Heath Avantis Digital Mixer, 64 Channel / 42 Bus Digital Mixers With Stage Rack
The Avantis is one of Allen & Heath’s premium digital mixing consoles, aimed at live sound, installation and touring where high performance plus flexible I/O expansion are needed.
Key Features and Specifications:
| Feature | Description |
|---|---|
| Channels & Buses | 64 input channels (“full processing channels”) and 42 configurable mix / bus outputs (i.e. 42 buses for mix/aux etc.). |
| Processing Engine | Uses the XCVI FPGA core, operating at 96 kHz sampling rate with ultra‑low latency (~0.7 ms, input to output). |
| Touchscreens & UI | Dual 15.6‑inch Full HD capacitive touchscreens with gesture control. The UI is called Continuity UI, which integrates physical controls (faders, knobs) and touchscreen workflows for intuitive mixing. |
| Faders / Strips / Layout | 24 motorised faders in two banks, with 6 layers (so total 24 faders usable, switching layers as needed). Multiple strip types (input, mix, FX sends etc.). SoftKeys / assignable buttons / rotaries expand how you control routing, EQ, etc. |
| I/O (Local & Expansion) | Locally, the Avantis has 12 analog mic/line (XLR) inputs, 12 analog outputs. Also has AES digital inputs/outputs. In addition, it offers two I/O ports (EtherCon style) which support large I/O card expansions (e.g. Dante, MADI, gigaACE etc.) at high channel counts (128×128) at 96kHz. Also has an S‑Link port for remote I/O expanders (Allen & Heath’s remote stage boxes etc.). |
| Effects, FX, & Processing | 12 stereo FX slots with dedicated FX returns. Optional “dPack” upgrade (dLive‑style processing) adds more processing power (e.g. Dyn8 engines, DEEP compressors, valve‑stage preamp options). Full channel‑strip processing: EQ, filters, compression, delay etc. |
| Workflow / Extras | AMM (Automatic Mic Mixer) for multi‑zone or multichannel automatic mic management; many SoftKeys for shortcuts; assignable rotaries; detailed metering with multiple peak detection; RTA (real‑time analyzer) etc. Scene memory, show storage; USB stereo recording/playback; word clock input/output via BNC. |
