The DX168 is a remote I/O expander (stagebox) from Allen & Heath’s Everything I/O / DX range. Its purpose is to add analogue inputs and outputs in locations away from the main mixing console, but link them back via a digital network protocol (the A&H DX protocol at 96 kHz).
It is designed to work with A&H digital systems such as dLive, Avantis, SQ, and some Qu models (96 kHz capable ones), or to the AHM matrix processors.
The “portable expander” design means it has a rugged chassis, rubber bumpers, and sometimes a carry handle, allowing placement on stage floor or rack mount use via optional rack kits.
